Just when we thought every company possible had made a Bluetooth headset we meet someone with yet another brand! but this was a bit of a shocker for those chaps at Logitech had ventured into the hands free world of Bluetooth. Not content with keyboards / mice and other computer peripherals we now have the Logitech Bluetooth Headset.
There are two distinct types of Bluetooth headsets, ones that look like a headset and ones that look like you've got a growth! luckily Logitech decided not to be too \"far out\" and stick with a boom style design, we've got to say these have to be our preference at least when your in the car talking away anyone who looks at you sees a headset.
This headset works on Bluetooth 1.1 which gives it an effective range of about 10 meters and the noise cancelling microphone did a good job of blocking out background road noise giving our callers a nice clear sound, perhaps the incoming sound is a little quiet but the quality was good with little of the interference we've seen in other headsets.
Onto the all important battery life, some of LP's colleagues have been finding that some brand name headsets run out of juice long before the phone does, which hardly makes them useful, but the Logitech Bluetooth Headset gives an impressive 8 hours talk time and a claimed 1 month standby time (assuming no calls are made) we have to doubt the one month claim as most mobiles don't last that long.
While we couldn't test the 1 month standby it did make a good 7 plus hours talk time or a weeks worth of LP talking to his broker on the way to work (yeah right), the lithium ion battery won't suffer from the memory effect and charged from flat in about 3 hours. The carry case also doubles up as the charging station which is a novel approach, all you need to do is plug in the supplied AC adaptor.
Weighing 30 grams the Logitech Bluetooth headset is just about ok for sitting on the ear for prolonged period and the rubber over ear loop holds it securely to the side of your face.
Retailing at £65 its about mid priced and competitive with the lower Sony ericsson products and Plantronics, for our money if you want a Boom headset it beats both of these by virtue of that long standby time, so a good entry for Logitech and their Bluetooth headset.
